“Since singing
is so good a thing, I wish all men would learne to singe.”
(William Byrd, one
of the great English composers of the 16th Century)
HCS is always delighted to
welcome new members, with a particular interest in tenors and basses
just at the moment. We are known as a very friendly and welcoming
group. If you are interested, please contact Maureen Freeman, our
membership secretary on 01920 870632. Do also take a look at the notes
about “eavesdropping” on a rehearsal on the Initiatives/Open Rehearsal page
Current
membership fee is : £145.
There is a £5 discount for paying in full early in the season (i.e. by
1st October). For those under 25, membership is FREE. The first term
for those who have not sung with HCS before is also FREE. Recognising
that for some a single payment of £145 is not practical and as an
alternative, subs can be paid in three instalments by post-dated
cheques, the first of £50 dated 1 October 2008, the second of £50 dated
1 Jan 2009 and the third of £45 dated 1 April 2009.
For part-seasons, the
payments are : for the Spring Term onwards, £100 payable in January;
for the Summer Term, £50 payable in April/May.
The Society is very
sympathetic to those who are in financial hardship and wishes to make
it possible for all to join in its activities. If this is relevant,
please talk to the Chairman and/or Treasurer to make an appropriate
arrangement.
Subscription forms are
used to compile membership details. All members are asked to complete a
form including those under 25 where no subscription is payable. Forms
and subscriptions should be given to Hilary Laidler.
Gift aid increases
significantly the benefit of subscriptions to the society at no cost or
inconvenience to you.
If you or the person paying the subscription is a taxpayer, there is
provision on the membership form to complete and sign the declaration.
Some members have in
previous years waived the discount and made donations over and above
the amount of the subscription, for both of which we are very grateful.
Membership includes :
| - |
weekly rehearsals
(conductor, accompanist and suitable venue) |
| - |
