The
first three concerts - Britten’s War Requiem
(1993), Mahler’s Eighth Symphony
(1997) and Verdi’s Requiem (2003)-
resultied in a total of around £100,000 being
raised for the charity, The
British Council for Prevention of Blindness.
The fourth concert was
given on Sunday, 4th November 2007 from which the
charity (BCPB) is expected to receive around £25,000.

At
the annual Christmas concert, which is given with the
Hertford Symphony Orchestra, a collection is always taken
and divided between two charities – one local and
one national.
In recent years, these sums have been donated :
Approx £550 to: Parkinson Disease,

Approx £500 to: Hertford Speakability, Childline
Approx £450 to: Lister Kidney Foundation, National
Society for Phenylketonuria
Approx £300 to: CHIPS Christmas Charity, Red Cross
